TIU Commends Shayan Magazine Staff on Kurdish Journalism Day

Tishk International University marked the 124th anniversary of the Kurdish Journalism by organizing an event during which the staff and contributors of Shayan Magazine were commended.

 

Dr. Idris Hadi, TIU’s Head of Board of Trustees, delivered the opening speech by noting that the beginning of Kurdish journalism with the publication of Kurdistan Newspaper in 1898  was the advent of a new era that brought the Kurdish struggle for freedom to a new level.

 

He also thanked the staff of Shayan Magazine for their efforts, and encouraged academic staff and students of the TIU to contribute to the monthly magazine by sharing their articles and research papers.

 

Head of Erbil Branch of Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate and deputy head of Kurdish Writers Union, joined by several TIU professors, students, and the staff members of Shayan Magazine were also present at the event.

 

Hero Ismail, Editor-in-Chief of Shayan Magazine, delivered a speech on behalf of her team, thanking Dr. Idris Hadi and the presidency of the university for offering constant support to make the print run.

 

She also recalled the initiatives that led to the publication of Shayan Magazine which began from a wall newspaper at TIU’s Faculty of Law years ago. The editor-in-chief also seized the opportunity to name everyone who has leant a helping hand to improve the content quality of the magazine.

 

At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were handed to the staff members of Shayan Magazine to value their selfless efforts.
